8) How would this good inquisition proceed?

How? Too bad... No, not that way.

Only the Pope can give a final answer to that question, although we have a few suggestions. Basically, the inquisition I think is necessary in Quebec would target only Catholics (i.e. it would be strictly internal to the Church [1Co 5:12]). Not only would it be strictly within the Church, but it would also only target "the second floor" (i.e. the Deacons, Priests and Bishops, but not the rank-and-file Catholics). This good inquisition could proceed in five steps:

8.1) Finding the wolves

1) An Inquisitorial Committee approved by the Pope would start by publishing a document explaining the suboptimal state of the Church in the Province of Quebec, and its intention to proceed with a good inquisition.

2) All religious leaders (Bishops, Priests and Deacons, but also Theology Professors and educators in Seminaries) would participate in ceremonies where they would publicly reassert their love for the Apostolic See of Rome. We can sketch out what this simple and dignified ceremony would look like:

- The Ceremony would occur in each parish, at the Sunday Mass where attendance is the greatest.

- The local religious leader would receive from the hands of the Papal Legate a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

- Then, that leader would redo his Profession of Faith and his Pledge of Loyalty.

- Then, that leader would kiss the Episcopal ring of the Papal Legate, to signify his submission to Jesus Christ, whose Vicar is the Pope, represented here by the Papal Legate.

- The Papal Legate would order all the faithful to come and tell him if ever they heard anything whatsoever that wasn't in accordance with the official teachings of the Church.

- Finally, a group picture and a good round of applause!

3) The Inquisitorial Committee would write sermons defending the dogmas of faith and the moral truths that are most violently attacked these days, and then order all priests to read word-for-word these sermons, and nothing but these sermons, one at each Sunday Mass, while supplies lasted.

4) The same Inquisitorial Committee would establish a schedule of public demonstrations targeting abortion camps, stripper bars, anti-family organizations, factories that criminally pollute, provincial and federal Members of Parliament who claim to be Catholic and yet vote for immoral laws, and so on. The religious leaders would then have to participate (peacefully and legally, of course) in one or more of these events, and read in front of the crowd the declaration written by the Committee.

In my opinion, that would be plenty enough to flush the wolves who are in the sheepfold.

8.2) Getting rid of the wolves

Care Bears.
The Care Bears.

So what would we then do with those "wolves"? Isn't the message of Jesus all about love? Didn't Jesus always preach about inclusion, never exclusion? No, that is not the message of Jesus Christ, that is the message of the Care Bears. Let's look at a few real quotes from the real Holy Bible inspired by the real Holy Spirit:

Depart from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be involved in their sins.
[Nb 16:26]

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema.
[Ga 1:8]

And we charge you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother walking disorderly and not according to the tradition which they have received of us.
[2Th 3:6]

If any man come to you and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into the house nor say to him: God speed you.
[2Jn 1:10]

A man that is a heretic, after the first and second admonition, avoid.
[Tt 3:10]

Purge the evil person from your midst.
[1Co 5:13]

In the Old Testament, the penalty for heresy is death. Does this still apply? For the worse cases, why not? (Don't forget that a heresy, according to the Church, is a doctrinal or moral error. For example, obstinately asserting that it's morally good to exterminate Jews in concentration camps is a heresy. And if you promote such a heresy until your country decides to heed you, you are guilty of this genocide.)
